Position Purpose

Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor if needed. Typically requires a high school diploma and 4 to 6 years of experience.


Reports to: Typically reports to a supervisor or Manager. Competencies: Ability to lift/move heavy objects. Time management skills. Ability to understand and follow directions. Speak & read English. Computer skills. Manual dexterity. Leadership skills.


Goals of Position:

  • Deliver Exceptional Products: Ensure all products meet the highest standards and customer specifications.
  • Demonstrate Leadership: Lead the shop team when required, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to procedures.
  • Exemplify Expertise: Perform complex fabrication and belt splicing tasks independently or with minimal assistance.
  • Maintain Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety regulations, including OSHA and MSHA, and ensure customer satisfaction during onsite jobs

Responsibilities:

  • Operate all shop machinery, tools, and equipment independently and safely.
  • Execute in-house belt fabrication per customer specifications with no assistance.
  • Ensure all fabrication tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest quality.
  • Lead the shop and supervise personnel as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service onsite by resolving issues and completing tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain MSHA certification if applicable for the branch.
  • Ensure OSHA 10 certification is up to date.
  • Maintain proper safety documentation and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Major Challenges:

Physical Demands of Position

    • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs frequently.
    • Must stand, walk, climb, crouch, stoop, and bend throughout the shift.
    • Frequent travel by car is required for offsite jobs.
    • Clear communication skills are necessary to ensure crew safety and task completion.

Work Environment

  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions
  • Knowledge of fabrication techniques for industrial products (hoses, gaskets, and belts).
  • Frequently exposed to uncomfortably hot or cold temperatures
  • Occasionally caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and very loud noise levels.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • All tasks of Shop Fabricator I, II and III/Belt Technician
  • Follows all Health and Safety requirements
  • Ensures all DOT documents are up to date and recorded properly[KE2]

Authority

· Act Alone:

o Verify task completion and equipment readiness.

o Check product quality before release.

· Touch Base with Supervisor:

o Request additional materials or supplies.

o Coordinate project deadlines and priorities.

o Coordinate schedules for crew training and maintenance.

· Need Approval from Supervisor:

o Authorize overtime or shift changes.

o Adjust production priorities as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a fabrication or production environment.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Must have a valid, active Driver's License with an insurable driving record
