Job Description Summary

The Community Relations Representative focuses on promoting and educating individuals, healthcare professionals and assisted living/skilled nursing facility personnel to increase awareness of and help set up patients with hospice services. 

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Meets with potential hospice patients and family members to share the benefits of hospice services and provide overviews of what is included in the hospice benefit. 
  • Works to meet and exceed admission goals. 
  • Presents to large and small groups.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with various community organizations.
  • Works with the local Interdisciplinary Team to ensure seamless end-of-life care.
  • Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of agencies market including key referral sources and positioning opportunities.
  • Executes marketing promotional initiatives to achieve projections.
  • Finds opportunity in the community to educate and present on the basics of hospice care and its benefits.
  • Tracks and documents prospecting activity in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Covers Butte, Montana and an 80-mile radius outside of Butte, MT to ensure that city and rural areas withing the territory are effectively supported. 
  • Organizes and attends education lunch and learns, local chamber events, and community "Hospice 101" meetings to teach and educate those in the community.
  • Learns and understands the importance of compliance as it relates to running a successful hospice agency. 
  • Documents appropriate activity while maintaining security and privacy policies. 
  • Potential for handling Hospice admissions.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Previous account management and/or sales experience is preferred.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in health care is preferred.
  • Previous hospice or senior care experience is preferred. 
  • Ability to market and deal tactfully with potential patients and families in the community.
  • Demonstrates compassionate, kindness and understanding.
  • Demonstrates good communications skills, negotiation skills, and public relations skills.
  • Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
  • Willingness to travel an 80-mile radius of Helena, Montana to meet the needs of potential patients, community partners and the Interdisciplinary team.
