About the role
We are looking for a forward-thinking and automation-driven leader to join our revenue accounting function. This is a unique opportunity to partner with business functions, data and engineering teams to support and improve revenue processes and build a best-in-class foundation to support Rippling’s rapid growth. This role is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about working with data and systems to streamline processes and drive efficiency.
As the Revenue Accounting Manager, you will be a key partner to our Product, Business Development, Data, Engineering, Financial Systems and FP&A teams. You will be responsible for formalizing and improving the revenue recognition process flows. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting combined with a passion for data, process engineering, automation and a track record of executing complex, cross-functional projects.

Accounting at Rippling is responsible for supporting and communicating the financial story of Rippling. We assess, track and record every penny that Rippling transacts. Our diverse team consists of professionals spread across the United States, Europe and India, with more international locations coming soon. Over the last couple years, our team has grown exponentially to support a complex, multi-product company that operates globally.
What you will do
- Drive initiatives to optimize the month-end revenue close cycle and take ownership of assigned processes.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to recognize revenue for products and services and implement ideas to drive accuracy and efficiency.
- Serve as a primary liaison between the Revenue Accounting function and technical partners, including Engineering, Business Development, Product, Data, Financial Systems and FP&A teams, to implement solutions that drive accuracy and efficiency.
- Foster deep cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative and scalable revenue solutions that adhere to stringent controls while remaining adaptable to evolving business needs.
- Understand and effectively document revenue transactions, systems, and data flows.
- Own month-end close tasks related to revenue, deferred revenue and accounts receivable, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations and performing analytics to support month-end balances.
- Support business teams with analysis of revenue trends, forecasts, and program performance (e.g. reseller and partner revenue programs).
- Assist with revenue reporting, audits, and other ad-hoc projects.
What you will need
- A minimum of 6+ years of progressive experience, with a demonstrated blend of revenue accounting and finance transformation/systems roles.
- A motivated self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to execute results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes and execute results in a fast-paced environment
- Proven track record of leading finance or revenue-focused transformation projects (e.g., process re-engineering and automation, system implementation, close optimization).
- Hands-on experience with a large volume of data and revenue systems (NetSuite is a plus) and data reconciliation between different data sources
- Strong analytical skills and experience using SQL to query and analyze data, or a strong passion to learn (Snowflake is a plus).
- An understanding of ASC 606, particularly in a SaaS environment with complex revenue streams is a plus. A CPA and Big 4 public accounting experience are strongly preferred.

The pay range for this role is:
108,000 - 189,000 USD per year(US San Francisco Bay Area)
