Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

JOB SUMMARY

The duties of a Family Medicine Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) mid-level provider include, but are not limited to, providing accurate assessment, diagnosis, treatment, consultation, education and follow-up care to patients ranging in age from infancy to geriatric; proper maintenance of records, under the direction of the Supervisory Physician and any other reasonable and proper duties assigned.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  1. Examine patients and record history
  2. Adhere to proper charting protocols
  3. Discuss with Physician and other health care professionals to prepare comprehensive plan
  4. Order or execute tests or images as needed
  5. Submit health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review by Physician
  6. Analyze results of tests, diagnose and report to patient
  7. Administer or prescribe treatment and medications
  8. Promote health by advising patient on diet, hygiene and prevention of disease
  9. Inoculate and vaccinate as required
  10. Refer to specialist as required for patient's well-being
  11. Perform minor surgery
  12. Report deaths and contagious diseases to governmental authorities
  13. Report incidences to the Department of Risk and Compliance
  14. Completion and reporting of incidents on the intranet
  15. Report incidents of violence and aggression to Departments of Risk and Compliance and Human Resources
  16. Report incidents of suspected child/elderly abuse and human trafficking to the proper agencies and the Department of Risk and Compliance.     
  17. Participate and serve on a minimum of one clinical quality committee
  18. Represent True Health in the community and at community events.
  19. Provide coverage for on-call, as assigned
  20. Participate in Peer Review Process as indicated
  21. Precept and train students (MD, DO, APRN, PA, residents, fellows, etc) as assigned 
  22. Precept and train provider peers, as assigned
  23. Respond and participate in True Health Emergencies (i.e. Nurse Stats)
  24.  
  25. Other responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Must have and maintain current State of Florida license in good standing
  2. Current National Board Certification

  3. Ability to collaborate with colleagues to provide quality healthcare

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Prior experience using an electronic medical records system
  2. Bilingual a plus, but not required (English/Spanish)
