Job Overview: Join our orthopedics practice as a Charge Operating Room Register Nurse, where you'll play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients. The Charge OR RN serves as a clinical and operational leader for the Operating Room. In addition to fulfilling all circulating and clinical responsibilities of the OR RN role, the Charge Nurse provides shift-level leadership, staff coordination, clinical oversight, and operational support to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care delivery. This role functions as a key resource to nursing staff and collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to maintain standards of practice, regulatory compliance, and patient safety.

Wage: $38-53/hr, commensurate with experience

Requirements:Essential Duties
- Performs all circulating RN functions in the operating room, including pre-operative preparation, intraoperative monitoring, documentation, and patient handoff.
- Ensures compliance with surgical safety checklists, sterile technique, infection prevention, and medication safety protocols.
- Assists with scrub duties as needed, including instrument preparation and surgical counts.
- Provides nursing care to complex orthopedic surgical patients in a fast-paced OR environment.
- Maintains accountability for overall OR operations during assigned shifts.
- Coordinates daily OR staffing assignments based on case volume, acuity, and staff competency; adjusts workflow to maintain efficiency and patient safety.
- Serves as the clinical lead and resource for OR nursing and surgical support staff.
- Facilitates communication between surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and nursing staff to ensure smooth case flow.
- Manages room flow, turnover efficiency, and break coverage during the shift.
- Identifies and escalates clinical, staffing, or operational concerns to department leadership.
- Demonstrates strong critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and leadership in a high-acuity surgical setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced clinical knowledge of perioperative nursing, surgical procedures, anatomy, and physiology.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to assess situations, prioritize patient care, and make sound clinical decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple OR operational demands, including staffing, case flow, and urgent clinical needs.
- Proficiency in the use of surgical equipment, instrumentation, and perioperative technology.
- Thorough understanding of sterile technique, infection prevention, medication safety, and patient safety standards.
- Working knowledge of regulatory, accreditation, and evidence-based practice standards applicable to the operating room.
- Effective communication and conflict resolution skills when working with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and OR staff.
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to changing patient conditions and workflow challenges.
- Accurate and timely documentation and communication of patient care.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor staff and support a collaborative team environment.
- Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Experience Required : 2 years of OR nursing (RN) experience. Previous ASC experience in an Orthopedic setting required.
Education/Certification requirements
- Degree in Nursing: Bachelors Preferred
- Current Colorado Registered Nurse license
- BCLS & ACLS certification required.
