G‑3 Chickadee—formerly part of Goodyear Chemical—is undergoing a major transformation. As a newly independent, Private Equity–backed organization, we are modernizing our infrastructure, implementing new systems (SAP, MES, cybersecurity), and building a strong operational foundation for continued growth.

We are seeking an Analytical Chemist, reporting to the R&D Chief Engineer.  We are looking for a highly motivated chemist with training in organic synthesis to join our R&D team. The Associate Chemist will contribute to the design, execution, and analysis of laboratory experiments supporting multiple development projects. The ideal candidate is skilled in hands-on bench chemistry—including air sensitive techniques—and eager to expand their experience across polymer, small molecule, and analytical workflows.

 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Perform laboratory synthesis using air-sensitive and moisture-sensitive techniques (e.g., glovebox, Schlenk line).
  • Conduct polymerization reactions (controlled radical, step-growth, or other relevant methods).
  • Execute small-molecule organic synthesis from milligram to multigram scale.
  • Characterize products using analytical instrumentation including - NMR (¹H/¹³C), HPLC, GPC/SEC, GC/MS, FTIR
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and documentation.
  • Analyze data and summarize results for project teams.
  • Support multiple concurrent projects with attention to timelines and priorities.
  • Follow all safety, waste-handling, and laboratory best practices.

 

What You Bring

 

Required

  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry or related field, with formal training in organic chemistry or synthetic methods
  • Up to 3 years of academic or industrial laboratory experience

 

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with Air-sensitive techniques (Schlenk/glovebox), Organic synthesis reaction setup, purification, and characterization, common analytical tools (NMR, HPLC, GPC, GC/MS, FTIR)
  • Experience with polymer synthesis or polymer characterization techniques
  • Prior industry internship or co-op experience
  • Experience working in a multi-project, cross-functional research organization
