First Shift Production Material Planner

The Production Material Planner is responsible to ensure the production floor has all materials  required for production, readily available and staged for production. The position needs to work closely with the  material handler(s) to deliver goods from the warehouse to the production floor in a timely manner.

Work Schedule:  Monday - Thursday 8a-530p, Friday 8a-230p


Job Kitting and Material Delivery Scheduling

• Responsible for working with production supervisor/lead(s) to ensure each cell location is sufficiently stocked 

with materials, to ensure production can flow smoothly and efficiently. 

• Assist with “Ship Loose” item to ensure they are accounted for and stored appropriately. 

• Maintain Point of Use areas, ensure they are cleaned, organized, and communicate with Material Handler(s) if 

stock is low or additional quantity will be needed for upcoming jobs. 

• Proactively deliver / stage, insulation, siding kits, and tube frame to the floor. Work with material handlers to 

ensure accurate inventory tracking is maintained. 

• Stock each cell location with conduit, strut, cable tray and rolling carts to ensure production teams do not run 

short. 

• Attend weekly production schedule to keep up on upcoming jobs. Stay ahead of production material needs. 

• Assist cell teams in organizing materials per the 5S program.

• Assist with warehouse material que, once implemented. 

• Assists with the salvage of damaged or used material and works with the material handler to put it into 

inventory or scrap as appropriate. 

• Unpackage materials as needed and dispose of the packing. 

• Ability to assist in production and 5S program needs as needed. 

• Work with leads and material handlers to mitigate material anomalies. Identify and mitigate issue prior to 

production needing the material. Notify lead and Supervisor of anomalies with regular updates as to the 

resolution status.


Forklift Safety

• Safely operates various forklifts and overhead cranes to move or hoist shipments from the warehouse to storage 

or to other designated areas. 

• Move material as necessary. 

• Operates various hand tools and properly cares for and maintains tools in good operating condition; ensures

tools and equipment are properly stored at the end of each shift.



Professional Communication

• Confers with appropriate department heads to ensure coordination of shipping/receiving warehouse activities 

with activities of other functions such as production and sales.

• Works with the Procurement Manager to coordinate the planned and unplanned workflow.

• Participates in weekly scheduled review meetings for planning continuous improvement projects throughout the 

warehouse

• Maintains general communication with Project Managers with respect to the kitting of job cart material and 

delivery of other key project materials. 

• Contributes to a team environment by exhibiting a positive and helpful attitude with team members while 

working towards shared team goals.

Education/Experience: 

High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or at least two years shipping and receiving experience or an equivalent 

combination of education and experience.


Language Ability: 

Ability to read and understand shipping and receiving documents – invoices, bills of lading, manifests, etc. comprehend 

simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write English legibly for simple correspondence. Ability to 

effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. 


Math Ability: 

Ability to accurately count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide, calculate shipping and freight costs; discounts, fees, etc.


Customer Service Skills:

Ability to work effectively with various personalities on the shop floor and develop lasting rapport. Ability to address vendor 

issues and resolve problems in a timely manner. 


Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to solve shipping/receiving/inventory problems and deal with a variety of issues and variables in situations where only 

limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule 

form. Strong attention to detail with good organization and problem-solving skills. 


Computer Skills: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have good PC skills as week as be proficient in Word, Excel, and MS 

Outlook, EPICOR, and other specialized inventory tracking applications/software. 

 

Certificates and Licenses: 

Must possess a valid driver’s license

Must possess OSHA forklift certification or obtain one with 1 month of hire.


Safety: 

Must comply with and follow all IE standards, programs, policies, and procedures as they apply to this position, reports any 

unsafe condition immediately.

Work Schedule:

Must be able to work a 40 hour work week and additional hours as required.

Salary Information
