HR Leader

About this position

We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources Leader for our Indiana plant, responsible for delivering timely and accurate HR services in compliance with government regulations and AOC corporate policies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of labor relations, particularly in a unionized environment, as familiarity with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) is essential for success in this role.


**Key Responsibilities:**

- Provide comprehensive HR support to both hourly and salaried employees, ensuring effective administration of all HR functions.

- Work closely with the Plant Manager to address all HR needs, while reporting directly to the Corporate HR Director with a dotted line to the Plant Manager. 

- Take on additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager to support plant operations.


**Program and Benefit Administration:**

- Oversee the administration of various programs and benefits, including:

  - Health and dental plans

  - Employee assistance programs

  - 401(k) programs

  - Workers compensation

  - Disability benefits

  - Service awards

  - Educational reimbursement

  - Plant charitable contribution fund


**HR Regulatory Requirements Compliance:**

- Ensure compliance with all HR-related regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EEO, ADA, FMLA, unemployment, and ISO standards.

- Stay informed on national and state legislative changes to maintain compliance.

**Support:**

- Provide ongoing support and guidance to corporate and plant management for the consistent implementation of employee programs and policies.

- Conduct annual hourly wage surveys for Valparaiso and complete assigned Corporate HR projects as needed.

- Assist with hiring and termination processes, ensuring consistent corrective action is enforced.


**Record Retention/Attendance:**

- Oversee the maintenance of training records in accordance with ISO instructions and ensure proper recordkeeping for all hourly employees.

- Manage attendance records and ensure timely and consistent administration of corrective action related to attendance.


Qualifications:
    Strong knowledge of employment law, payroll, compensation, and benefits.Ability to work independently as a solo HR practitioner.Exceptional organization and follow-through.Experience with HRIS system a plus.Strong people skills and the ability to interact with a diverse workforce including all levels of leadership in the organization.Ability to make good sound judgment decisions even in the most difficult situations
