Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for the overall management and direction of the day-to-day business operations, ensuring production objectives are met at the lowest cost consistent with product quality requirements, while maintaining high safety standards and ensuring all legal and regulatory compliance. Manages business plans/budgets and staffing requirements to support growth to annual sales volumes through delegating authority to key direct reports and utilizing inputs from cross-functional peers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Responsible for managing the site safety and environmental compliance programs and for ensuring that all employees adhere to these policies, including basic housekeeping and 5S.
- Direct functional responsibility for safety, quality, production scheduling, production, maintenance, tooling, and engineering
- Determines facility policies consistent with corporate policies and directs/supervises the application of these policies for the site, while working in concert with onsite cross-functional peers.
- Works closely with cross-functional peers in Sales, Customer Care, Quality and Human Resources to support local and Company-wide business initiatives.
- Responsible for the site’s Quality Program
- Ensure compliance with the production schedule to meet or exceed customer service requirements; plans staff operations establishing priorities and sequences for setups, samples, and production orders.
- Ensure compliance with the production schedule to meet or exceed customer service requirements. Reviews production schedule to ascertain data such as quantities, specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan the staff operations of the facility.
- Prepares staff schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operation, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimized costs and prevent operational delays.
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure production is at or above established standards.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Coordinate preparation of requests for capital equipment consistent with Company policy.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company organization policies/procedures and applicable laws/regulations. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Coordinates development of long and short-range plans with Plant Manager, including annual budgets and strategic plans.
- Strong production floor presence, conducting daily GEMBA walks throughout facility, participating in Tiered Accountability Meetings, Implementation of Leader Standard Work and Regular Town Hall Communications.
- Ensure all personnel matters, including salary actions and disciplinary actions, are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner and in accordance with Company policy.
- May have direct contact with customers on complaints and service matters as required.

Requirements
Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline; formal training in at least one continuous improvement discipline (i.e. Lean or Six Sigma). 5+ years leadership experience in industrial manufacturing operations with proven track record for high performance results.
- Progressive Engineering experience is preferred.
- Experience with plastic blow molding operations is required (EBM/ISBM/IBM/RHB)
- Experience with Aoki ISBM or 1Blow RHB platforms is a plus.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office -- MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; proficiency in use of NetSuite, Quality Systems & MRP systems and knowledge of MRP workflow.
