Acorn Engineering, Inc., a Maine-based, 100% employee-owned civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture firm, has a full-time opportunity for a Project Engineer in their Portland office. The Project Engineer will be an integral part of the development team and assist through the life cycle of projects.

  

Responsibilities include:

· site design

· development of drawings

· stormwater management design

· coordination with project stakeholders

· regulatory permitting

· construction   administration


Acorn’s current projects include:

· permitting for community solar farms

· floodplain and watershed restoration

· municipal parks including artwork   installations

· urban infill developments

· affordable housing projects   throughout the State


  

Acorn partners with high quality clientele and champions their projects from initial concept, through planning board approval to final completion. This is an exciting opportunity to assist a small (but growing) firm with a variety of tasks. Employees will be provided with a laptop to enable work within our hybrid work model. It’s anticipated the hybrid remote model would include 75% of time in the Portland office and 25% remote. This balanced approach fosters in-person collaboration while providing employees the opportunity to be with family, to travel, and to engage with their community – all of which are important parts of our company’s culture.

Requirements:

     

· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

· 3-6 years’ experience with design, permitting and construction administration for various site design projects within Maine

· Strong technical and engineering design skills

· Proficiency in AutoCad, Civil 3D & HydroCAD


· Understanding of Local, Maine and Federal permitting regulations and applications

· Experience with stormwater treatment design

· Valid driver’s license required and   access to a reliable vehicle for daily transportation preferred

· EI Certification required – PE or ability to obtain your PE within one (1) year is encouraged
