The Maintenance Technician supports the upkeep and safe operation of The Walker Center’s facilities, ensuring a clean, functional, and comfortable environment for clients, staff, and visitors. This position works under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and assists with general maintenance, repairs, and environmental care across all properties. 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment, fixtures and systems.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, sanitation, and environmental standards.
  • Ensure a consistently high quality of cleanliness and maintenance throughout the facility.
  • Follow all safety procedures, confidentiality requirements and The Walker Center policies.
  • Maintenance and basic inspections of company vehicles.
  • Drive Walker Center vehicles responsibly, ensuring client safety at all times.
  • Clean and sanitize vehicles after each use.
  • Follow The Walker Center’s Driving Safety Requirements and adhere to cellular phone use policies while driving.
  • Be oriented to the location of first aid kits and other required safety equipment in all vehicles.
  • Maintain landscaping, walkways, and exterior grounds in a neat and safe condition.
  • Respond promptly to repair requests and work orders.
  • Support other maintenance and custodial staff as needed. 
Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; frequent bending, climbing, and lifting (up to 60lbs).
  • Manual dexterity and ability to work in a variety of positions (reaching, extending, squatting, etc.)
  • Ability to safely climb and work from ladders.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repair.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • For applicants in recovery from a substance use disorder: a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety required.
  • Must successfully complete all pre-hire requirements including a criminal background check, drug screening (UA), and TB test.
  • Must obtain CPR certification within 90 days of hire.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting during shifts.
  • Exposure to cleaning agents, chemicals, and machinery with moving parts (safety equipment provided).
  • Occasioinal work in contaminated or confined areas.
  • Exposure to variable outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to moderate to loud noise levels.
