Personal Care Aide

Job Summary:

The Personal Care Aide performs various resident care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and providing for hte comfort of our residents.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents in bathing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene and assures that residents are comfortable and properly cared for at all times.
  • Assist residents with medications under the supervision of the Administrator and Nurse after completing the medication training and successful completion of medication competency test.
  • Follows daily routines as assigned by Administrator and Nurse.
  • Assists in transporting residents to dining room, assist with serving meals, and other necessary assistance throughout mealtime.
  • Performs personal services for residents and assists them in carrying out their daily activities such as reading, writing letters, making telephone calls, and participating in recreational activities.
  • Make facility rounds every half hour to assure all residents are comfortable and accounted for.
  • Responsible for charting resident information and noting any changes in resident condition.
  • Help direct visitors, run errands, and answer telephone.
  • Follow all procedures for infection control.
  • Responsible for the periodic recording of resident's physical condition such as weight, vital signs, etc.
  • Communicates to Nurse and Administrator of any changes in a resident's condition or resident concerns.
  • Assists Activity Director in carrying out activities as necessary.
  • Maintain required CPR, First Aid, and Diabetic certifications.
  • Responsible for attending mandatory in-services as directed by administration.
  • Performs other duties as directed by administration and management team.
Requirements:
  • The Personal Care Attendant must be 18 years or older.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED diploma.
  • Must be free from medical conditions that would limit ability to provide necessary personal care services. 
  • Responds to and interacts with residents, employees, and/or others within and outside of the organization in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.
  • Ability to work within time constraints and to prioritize work.
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout all phases of this position.
