About this position
Job Summary
The Electronic Assembler L5 is a master-level technician and subject matter expert responsible for the most complex electronic assembly, integration, and troubleshooting activities for laser rangefinder and targeting systems used in defense applications. This role leads critical build operations, mentors technical teams, and ensures the highest standards of workmanship, compliance, and product reliability. The Assembler L5 supports advanced production programs, qualification builds, and high-visibility customer deliverables in a high-reliability aerospace and defense environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assembly & Integration
• Perform the most advanced electronic and electro-mechanical assembly of military laser rangefinder hardware, including high-density electronics and precision harnessing.
• Lead complex chassis integration, box builds, and final electronic assembly for mission-critical systems.
• Resolve difficult technical issues involving wiring, component fitment, grounding, shielding, and configuration.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
• Serve as the go-to expert for electronic assembly processes, workmanship standards, and build execution.
• Train, mentor, and guide Level 1–4 assemblers in soldering, harness fabrication, and high-reliability practices.
• Support manufacturing engineering in process improvement, tooling development, and producibility enhancements.
Quality & Compliance Ownership
• Ensure strict adherence to IPC, ISO9001, ESD, and defense workmanship requirements.
• Lead resolution of nonconformances, support MRB activities, and drive corrective actions for systemic assembly issues.
• Support customer, DCMA, or government witnessed builds and audits.
Program Execution Support
• Partner with engineering and quality teams to support qualification builds, first article inspections, and production readiness efforts.
REQUIRED CAPABILITIES
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
- Expert-level proficiency in soldering, harnessing, electro-mechanical integration, and precision assembly.
- Extensive experience interpreting complex schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical data packages.
- Proven leadership supporting critical builds, troubleshooting, and team development.
- Solder certification.
- Able to work additional hours evenings and / or weekends to support customer requirements.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 30lbs.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of experience in high-reliability electronics assembly within aerospace or defense manufacturing.
- 10+ years of experience interpreting complex schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical data packages.
- 7+ years’ experience, leading, guiding and / or supervising junior technicians.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
