Job Summary


The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides routine daily nursing care to residents in a compassionate, professional manner, in accordance with established care plans, policies, and procedures. The CNA supports residents’ physical, emotional, and social needs while ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity.


Key Responsibilities

Resident Care

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, oral care, toileting, dressing, feeding, mobility, and positioning.
  • Measure and record vital signs, intake/output, and weights as directed.
  • Assist with transfers, ambulation, and use of mobility devices.
  • Provide care for bedfast, incontinent, and dying residents, including post-mortem care.
  • Observe and report changes in resident condition, skin integrity, and behavior.

Clinical Support

  • Follow care plans and report concerns to the Charge Nurse.
  • Assist with restorative and rehabilitative activities.
  • Provide catheter care, range of motion exercises, and reposition residents as directed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation on flow sheets and reports.


Admissions & Transfers

  • Prepare resident rooms, assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Transport residents safely within the facility or to appointments.


Safety & Infection Control

  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
  • Use proper body mechanics and PPE.
  • Report accidents, incidents, hazards, and equipment issues promptly.

Food & Nutrition

  • Assist residents with meals, feeding, hydration, and documentation of intake.
  • Serve snacks and provide post-meal care.

Professional Conduct

  • Maintain resident confidentiality and rights.
  • Treat all residents with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • Attend required training, in-services, and maintain certification.

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Must have a current CPR/BLS.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to work effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable.
  • Must meet minimum age and facility requirements.
Requirements:

Physical & Work Requirements


  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and transfer residents (up to 50+ lbs with assistance).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids and infectious diseases.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed.
  • Ability to handle emotional and physical demands of resident care.
