Position Summary
PBACO is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in public accounting, hold an active CPA license, and demonstrate the ability to lead financial reporting, ensure compliance, and drive process improvements in a remote work environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all general ledger activity, including month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting functions
- Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and regulatory reports
- Reconcile complex accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices across the accounting function
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making
- Manage cash flow reporting and assist with treasury functions as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active CPA license (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting experience (required)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is strongly preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or MBA
- Experience in the insurance, healthcare, or professional services industry
- Experience with multi-entity or consolidated financial reporting
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
- Familiarity with Florida state tax and regulatory requirements
- Located within the state of Florida
