About the Role:The Behavioral Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals with behavioral challenges by implementing individualized treatment plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This position focuses on delivering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to help clients develop essential life skills, improve communication, and reduce maladaptive behaviors. The Behavioral Technician works directly with clients in various settings, including homes, schools, and clinics, ensuring consistent and effective intervention. Success in this role contributes significantly to the client’s overall progress and quality of life by fostering positive behavioral changes. The technician also collaborates closely with families and other professionals to maintain a supportive and cohesive treatment environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a 40-hour training course in Applied Behavior Analysis or equivalent experience.
- Ability to pass a background check and any required state certifications or clearances.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work compassionately with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Basic proficiency in data collection and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or a related field.
- Experience working with children or adults with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities.
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or willingness to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and therapeutic interventions.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with families.
Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized ABA therapy programs as designed by the supervising BCBA.
- Collect and record accurate data on client behaviors and progress during therapy sessions.
- Assist clients in developing communication, social, and daily living skills through structured activities.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients during all interactions.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors and team members to discuss client progress and any concerns.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance therapeutic skills.
- Support families by providing guidance and resources to reinforce treatment goals outside of sessions.

The Behavioral Technician utilizes strong observational and data collection skills daily to monitor client progress and adjust interventions as needed. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with clients, families, and supervisors to ensure clarity and consistency in treatment delivery. Patience and empathy are critical when working with individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviors, enabling the technician to provide compassionate and supportive care. Organizational skills help manage session plans, documentation, and scheduling to maintain a structured therapeutic environment. Additionally, problem-solving abilities allow the technician to respond adaptively to client needs and contribute to continuous improvement of treatment strategies.
