About this position

Description:

Founded in 2009, DC Greens is a nonprofit organization that advances health equity by building a just and resilient food system. We believe that racial justice, food access, and health equity are all connected, and that change requires systemic solutions and cross-sector collaboration. DC Greens works in solidarity with those who are most impacted to build a just food system in the nation’s capital and break down the systemic barriers that harm our community. We are currently seeking to hire two Community Ambassadors for The Well at Oxon Run.

These temporary, part-time positions will be part of our team at The Well and the Community Leadership Initiative. The Community Leadership Initiative is DC Greens’ leadership development program. Through CLI, community members with lived expertise are hired to contribute to the work and provide meaningful input in key areas, such as program development, strategic planning, partnerships, and community outreach. Responsibilities of this position include site activities at The Well at Oxon Run, engaging directly with community members, collecting various types of feedback during events, and promoting organization-wide engagement initiatives. Ambassadors may be expected to represent DC Greens during meetings with partners, donors, and other stakeholders associated with the organization. Ambassadors will receive training on regenerative agriculture principles, community food systems, conflict resolution, media and communication, and resumé building.
