SUMMARY:

Maintains quality patient care through consistent standards of nursing practice in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Utilizes the nursing process: assess, diagnosis, plan, implement and evaluate to execute appropriate individual patient care. Responsible for orientation, training/precepting, and mentoring of other personnel on the unit. Provides education to the personnel on the unit, and connects Rochester Regional Health to the nursing profession through research, publications and presentation. Registered Nurses are instrumental in providing an exceptional experience for patient and family.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assessment - Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.

  • Planning & Implementation - Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family.

  • Evaluation & Education - Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities.

  • Training - Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

  • Registered Nurse License in State of New York

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates in Human Services or equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology or Human Services

  • 1-3 years of healthcare experience in related field

  • Strong communication skills

EDUCATION:

  • AS: Nursing (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PAY RANGE: $35.34 - $47.13

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
