About this position
Project Manager - Golf Simulator Installations
About The Indoor Golf Shop
The Indoor Golf Shop (TIGS) is a fast-growing e-commerce and B2B leader in golf simulators, launch monitors, and premium golf accessories. Across our brands (including InHome Golf and SIGPRO), we design, source, manufacture, and install premium indoor golf solutions for homeowners and commercial facilities. Our Custom Design & Installation (CDI) division is responsible for turning sold projects into flawless real-world installations — on time, within scope, and with a best-in-class customer experience.
Why This Role Matters
- You are the quarterback for CDI projects — from post-sale handoff through installation, commissioning, and closeout.
- You ensure the customer, GC/contractors, design, procurement, shipping/receiving, and installers are all aligned — before anyone gets on a plane.
- You protect margin by preventing misses: incomplete site prep, missing materials, unclear scope, last-minute changes, and avoidable rework.
Role Summary
We're hiring experienced Project Managers to scale CDI. This is a high-ownership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment and enjoys blending customer communication, technical problem-solving, logistics, and cross-functional execution. You'll manage multiple projects simultaneously across different phases and will be measured on schedule adherence, readiness quality, customer satisfaction, and issue prevention.
What Success Looks Like (90–180 Days)
- Own a portfolio of active CDI projects end-to-end with minimal escalations and consistent on-time installs.
- Establish clear readiness standards: validated room dimensions, build-out requirements, electrical/low-voltage plan, network expectations, and delivery timelines.
- Run a tight internal cadence (weekly installer readiness review, production/shipping touchpoints) with documentation that is always current.
- Reduce ‘go-backs' and last-minute expedites by catching scope gaps early and driving timely decisions/change orders.
Core Responsibilities
1) Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects once sold; set expectations, timelines, and next steps.
- Lead kickoff calls with the customer and (when applicable) the GC/contractor/electrician to review build requirements, schedule, and responsibilities.
- Translate technical requirements into clear, contractor-friendly guidance (framing, blocking, ceiling height, power, conduit/low-voltage, network, lighting, HVAC considerations).
- Maintain professional, proactive communication—anticipate issues before the customer finds them.
2) Scope, Readiness & Design-to-Build
- Validate the proposed design against the customer's space and TIGS' installation standards; flag risks and drive design adjustments early.
- Partner with in-house design to finalize layouts and produce customer-facing build packets (e.g., SketchUp views, dimensions, electrical/AV notes).
- Translate approved designs into buildable requirements for internal operations (bill of materials, fabrication needs, custom components).
- Own change management: document scope changes, coordinate approvals, and ensure commercial/financial impacts are captured.
3) Planning, Scheduling & Logistics
- Build and maintain the project plan: milestones, dependencies, ship dates, install dates, and readiness checkpoints
- Coordinate installation scheduling with the Field Install Manager / install teams; ensure travel is booked and confirmed.
- Coordinate with shipping/receiving to stage materials by project, verify completeness, and confirm delivery before installers arrive.
- Track materials and vendor lead times; escalate delays early and propose alternatives.
4) Cross-Functional Execution
- Act as the ‘glue' across Sales, Design, Operations/Manufacturing, Procurement, Shipping, Installers, and Customer Support.
- Attend weekly production / planning meetings representing CDI priorities and constraints.
- Ensure installers have everything needed: scope summary, drawings, customer notes, access details, special tools/materials, and escalation paths.
5) Installation Support, Closeout & Aftercare
- Provide real-time support during installs: troubleshooting, resolving missing items, coordinating replacements/expedites, and managing customer expectations.
- Drive project closeout: documentation, installation photos, customer sign-off, punch list resolution, and warranty handoff.
- Partner with support teams on post-install issues; ensure root-cause feedback loops improve future installs.
6) Systems, Data & Financial Discipline
- Keep all project records current in the CRM / PM system (scope, timelines, notes, decisions, and risks).
- Monitor project costs and coordinate invoice reviews, change orders, and expense inquiries with leadership/finance.
- Track key metrics (on-time readiness, on-time completion, NPS/CSAT, go-backs, expedite spend) and contribute to continuous improvement.
Tools & Systems You'll Likely Use
- CRM / ticketing: (e.g., Pipedrive, Gorgias, or equivalent), plus internal project tracking tools
- 3D/design documentation: SketchUp (or similar) and Google Workspace/Microsoft Office
- Team communication: Slack, email, shared calendars
- Basic financial/ops coordination: purchase orders, vendor tracking, freight/shipping systems
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience in a field-executed environment (construction, AV/low-voltage integration, home automation, specialty contracting, or similar).
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with tight timelines and many stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication—comfortable leading calls with demanding customers and contractors.
- Comfortable reading/creating technical documentation (drawings, dimensions, BOMs, build packets).
- Strong ownership mindset: you close loops, document decisions, and escalate early — no surprises.
- Proficiency with modern tools (spreadsheets, docs, shared drives, task management, CRM).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in smart home / AV systems integration (low voltage), residential or commercial builds, or golf simulator installations.
- SketchUp proficiency (or similar 3D / visualization tools).
- Familiarity with networking basics (Wi‑Fi/LAN, run requirements, equipment placement) and common AV/construction terminology.
- PMP, CAPM, or equivalent training (nice-to-have).
- Willingness to travel periodically for site walks, complex installs, escalations, and training.
What We Value
- High accountability and high empathy: calm under pressure, firm on standards.
- Attention to detail without getting stuck — prioritize what matters and keep momentum.
- Process-driven but practical: create repeatability while adapting to real-world job sites.
- Customer-first mindset while protecting team capacity and company margin.
Work Environment & Travel
- Periodic travel to job sites may be required (varies by project load; typically for complex installs, walk-throughs, and escalations).
- Fast-paced environment with peak seasons and time-sensitive installs.
How to Apply
Submit your resume and a brief note describing your relevant project experience (construction/AV integration/custom installs), the types of projects you've managed (scope and budget), and the systems/tools you use to keep projects on track.
