Job Summary
The Tower Technician is responsible for the onsite installation, repair and maintenance of tower in a specific geographic region, including but not limited to site safety, tower maintenance/repair, site field reports, and other duties as required to properly maintain and operate the site within the contractual requirements. They work as part of a team and under the supervision of a foreman and will be required to work in the field under various conditions.
Responsibilities
· Install, erect, maintain, repair, inspect, remove, or retrofits towers and antenna systems sometimes under adverse conditions (e.g., high towers, inclement weather, remote sites, etc.) throughout the nation.
· Assist in installation of fiber and transmission lines, as well as power trunk lines.
· Operate construction equipment, inspect guy wire anchors, load/unload communications equipment and supplies. Install/remove communications equipment using safety equipment and hand tools.
· Fabricate tower hardware and accessories to maintain, repair, and retrofit towers and antenna systems to support communication system operation using fixed and portable power tools and equipment.
· Maintain all tools, vehicles and equipment normally assigned to this function. This includes loading, transporting, and unloading of tools and materials in a safe manner.
· Ensure all company safety procedures are followed to include proper use of safety equipment.
· Perform all other duties as assigned by the Foreman or management.
Qualifications:
Preferred Skills
· Up to 1 year in construction or telecommunications.· Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record that meets company standards.· Have TTT-1 Certification from an accredited institution.· Rescue Course or equivalent.· Strong verbal communication skills· Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.· Must have or have the ability to obtain:o OSHA Construction 10 HR Safety Training Card.o CPR/First Aid Certificationo Documented Authorized Climber & Competent Climber/Rescue certification from an accredited institution that meets the federal standards.
Education & Experience:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
