ShipperHQ Austin, Texas, United States Full-Time Information Technology

About this position

Software QA Engineer

ShipperHQ is looking for a Software QA Engineer who’s passionate about quality, precision, and continuous improvement. If you’re excited to dig into complex systems, identify issues before users do, and help deliver a reliable, high-performing product to thousands of e-commerce businesses, we’d love to hear from you.

About Us:

ShipperHQ is headquartered in Austin, TX, and is transforming the way e-commerce businesses manage shipping. Since 2009, we’ve provided innovative shipping software that helps both SMBs and enterprise customers optimize their operations and achieve better results. Our team members span the globe, and we’re united by a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and impact. We’re looking for ambitious, self-motivated individuals with a positive attitude who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and are excited to help shape the future of e-commerce shipping.

What You’ll Do:

As a Software QA Engineer, you’ll be at the center of ensuring that every product release meets our high standards for quality and performance. You’ll collaborate with developers, product managers, and automation engineers to deliver a smooth and reliable user experience.

  • Test and validate: Execute manual test cases to identify defects, verify functionality, and confirm that products meet business requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Product and Development to understand requirements, clarify expected outcomes, and ensure test coverage aligns with user needs.
  • Document and track issues: Clearly record test results, defects, and steps to reproduce, ensuring efficient communication and follow-up with the dev team.
  • Hybrid Framework Development: Bridge the gap between legacy automation and AI agents that can dynamically generate and execute their own test cases.
  • Promote self-service automation: Champion an automation-first approach using Claude code and other GenAI-enabled tools.
  • Support CI/CD efforts: Use GitLab to deploy, test, and validate builds in our cloud environments.
  • Drive quality: Drive engineering excellence through best practices in performance and cross platform consistency.
  • Navigate ambiguity: Work independently and make sound decisions quickly in a fast-moving environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Hands-on experience executing and analyzing test automation frameworks
  • Ability to write moderately complex SQL queries (MySQL or similar)
  • Familiarity with container frameworks (Docker) and Unix/Linux shell
  • Experience using Git or other version control systems
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD platforms such as GitLab or Bitbucket
  • Practical experience with Claude code or other similar GenAI-enabled automation solutions such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot.
  • Systemic thinker with end-to-end mindset and experience navigating cross functional teams and complex business systems.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with a natural curiosity to uncover issues before they reach users
  • Strong project leadership with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Proactive problem solver who thrives in dynamic, evolving environments
  • Thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can balance speed with quality.

If you meet most but not all qualifications, we encourage you to apply. We value potential and learning agility.

Why ShipperHQ?

This is a highly fast-paced environment where no two days will look alike. For the right candidate, with the right attitude, there are fantastic opportunities for career progression. We are an agile, fast-moving team that likes to roll up our sleeves and solve some of the biggest issues in shipping. You will learn more at ShipperHQ in a year than you would in 3 years at other companies, thanks to our collaborative learning culture that fosters continuous growth and innovation.

Benefits and Perks:

  • Collaborate with a motivated team, directly tying your results to organizational success
  • 22 days of PTO plus public holidays
  • 401k Match
