Role Overview
The Senior Key Account Manager provides strategic leadership over the Key Account Management function while directly overseeing a portfolio of the company’s most critical customers. This role is responsible for guiding, mentoring, and holding Key Account Managers accountable to performance standards, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with deep account management expertise and a hands-on, results-driven approach.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team OversightDirectly oversee, coach, and support Key Account Managers to ensure consistent execution of account strategiesSet performance expectations, KPIs, and best practices for key account managementReview account plans, forecasts, and customer communications for accuracy and alignmentIdentify skill gaps and provide ongoing training and development for the teamServe as escalation point for complex customer issues and high-level negotiationsEnsure alignment between Key Account Managers and internal teams (operations, finance, logistics, customer service)Strategic Account ManagementOwn and manage the company’s most strategic and high-revenue accountsDevelop and execute long-term account growth strategies focused on retention, margin, and expansionLead executive-level customer relationships and strategic business reviewsOversee contract negotiations, pricing strategies, renewals, and service agreementsMonitor account profitability, KPIs, service levels, and risk exposureCross-Functional & ReportingPartner with leadership to align account strategy with company objectivesProvide accurate forecasting, reporting, and insights on account performanceAnalyze market trends and customer feedback to drive continuous improvementSupport sales leadership with pipeline visibility and account intelligenceQualifications5+ years of experience in key account management or strategic sales3+ years of experience leading or managing account managers or sales teamsProven success managing large, complex, or enterprise-level accountsStrong leadership, coaching, and performance-management skillsExcellent negotiation, communication, and executive presentation abilitiesStrong analytical skills and CRM proficiencyPreferred SkillsExperience overseeing multi-location or national accountsContract and pricing strategy expertiseIndustry experience in agricultureExperience building SOPs, dashboards, and scalable account processesWhat We OfferCompetitive base salary Leadership role with visibility and influenceGrowth-oriented, collaborative culture
