Reports To: Billing Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Bellevue, Washington (On-site)
Schedule: Full time (Monday-Friday)
Travel: Some travel could be required to other SharpeVision locations to support training and business needs.
Job Summary
SVML Billing Specialists processes and ensures accuracy and compliance of all claims. They maintain practice management records to provide up to date information regarding demographics, insurance information, payments and communications.
The Billing Specialist fosters close working relationships with all parties to ensure coding that complies with and is up to date with regulatory rules. They must always maintain complete confidentiality as required by law. The Billing Specialist has an excellent understanding of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCs and HIPAA as well as any state specific requirements.
The Billing Specialist must be self-directed and able to multitask in a high-paced environment with minimal direction. A thorough knowledge of the workings of Ophthalmology medical practices is highly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Process submitted claims
- Process received payments
- Work claim rejections and denials
- Process Payment Reminders and Statements
- Work A/R
- Eligibility and Benefit Inquiries
- Patient Billing Inquiries
- Authorizations
- Collection processes
- Support multiple locations and providers with billing, collections, and authorization processes.
- Prepare monthly reports for management
- Train new staff
- Special projects as needed

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED is a must. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Previous medical billing experience is highly desired. CPT, ICD-10, HCPCs, NCCI, Fee Schedules and HIPPA knowledge is required.
Language Ability:
Fluency of the English language. Excellent oral and written comprehension and expression. Speech clarity and recognition. Active learning and listening. Ability to respond to common inquiries and provide information to patients and colleagues. Good interpersonal skills.
Math Ability:
Ability to use mathematical methods or formulas for related medical and scientific measurements and calculations. Ability to calculate percentages. Ability to compile, tabulate, or verify information or data.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to collect data and establish facts. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to use logic. Ability to identify information by categorizing and recognizing differences or similarities.
Computer Skills:
Accounting Applications, Charting Software, Document Management Software, Microsoft Office Suite, Email, Calendar and Scheduling Software, Medical Software, Internet, Data Entry, Inventory Management Applications.
Certificates and Licenses:
Coding and Billing certifications are highly desired.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct reports.
