POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Education Manager is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of innovative, high-quality educational experiences for preK-college students, educators, and community members. The role requires a creative and collaborative leader who is passionate about engaging diverse audiences and advancing the mission of SFDC through dynamic and impactful programming. They may also lead a team of specialists who design and deliver programs that support and inspire participants across all educational initiatives.

Teacher Programs Focus

This Education Manager role leads Space Foundation’s teacher-focused programming, including the Teacher Liaisons Program, educator professional development workshops, and national-level teacher engagement initiatives. The manager designs and facilitates high-quality NGSS-aligned PD, builds educator partnerships, maintains an active teacher learning community, and develops curriculum resources that help teachers bring space and STEM into their classrooms. This role emphasizes adult learning facilitation, curriculum design, network-building, and national-scale teacher program leadership.

Program Development and Execution

  • Design innovative experiential education programs and learning experiences that align with NGSS, STEM education best practices, and SFDC’s mission.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of program development, logistics, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure effective and efficient delivery. 
  • Implement and deliver engaging educational programs for diverse audiences, ensuring high-quality learning experiences that reflect SFDC’s standards and goals. 
  • Ensure programs are inclusive, accessible, and appeal to diverse audiences, from pre-school to the Boardroom. 
  • Leadership and Team Management

  • Train, coach, and manage SFDC educators, volunteers, and interns ensuring high-quality program delivery.
  • Mentor and support the professional growth of team members, volunteers, and interns.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with various SFDC departments, to ensure efficient and seamless program delivery. 
  • Support the planning and scheduling of staff and volunteers to ensure coverage of programs and fiscal responsibility.  
  • Operational and Administrative Duties

  • Manage program budgets, track expenses, and ensure alignment with financial goals, under the direction of the budget owner. 
  • Collect and analyze program data, including attendance, participant feedback, and learning outcomes, to evaluate and improve offerings. 
  • Prepare reports and presentations on program impact for internal stakeholders, funders, and the community.
  • Ensure compliance with SFDC policies, safety standards, and accessibility requirements.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Oversees the work of assigned personnel by setting priorities, coaching for development, and managing performance to achieve individual and team success in alignment with organizational goals.

    Budgetary Responsibilities

    • This position does not have budgetary or financial oversight responsibilities.

    • Ability to coach others, mediate conflict, and model high-level leadership skills and integrity as required.
    • Familiarity with project management methodology including knowledge areas of quality and risk management.
    • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time management

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum and instruction, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
    • Must be able to explain how you can manage educational programming with your related degree or have a minimum of 3 years of experience implementing and supervising educational programming. 
    • Minimum 3 years’ classroom experience required; 5 years’ classroom experience preferred. 
    • Efficient at using Microsoft Office Suite programs and other educational technology for the purposes of program management, development, and implementation.
    • Experience with project-based learning and high levels of inquiry
    • Proven experience in STEM-related curriculum development with emphasis on upper-level Engineering, Coding, and Robotics concepts. 
    • Familiarity with project management methodology, including knowledge areas of quality and risk management. 
    • Experience working in a team and in a leadership role.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    This position involves extended periods of sitting or standing at a workstation and frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment. Occasional movement, including walking, lifting, or carrying items up to 25 pounds may be required.     WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This role is primarily based in an office environment, with access to standard equipment and furnishings. The employee may occasionally be required to participate in offsite meetings or events, including potential travel as needed. The work environment is quiet to moderate in noise level.     JOB STATUS: 

    • FLSA Classification: This position is exempt according to guidelines of the Fair Labor Standards Act and, as such, an individual in this position is not eligible to receive overtime pay.  
    • Full- or Part-Time: This position is full-time in nature.  An individual in this position will work a schedule consisting of 40 hours per week. 
    • Work Location: This position’s primary work site is at Space Foundation headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO. The nature and responsibilities of this position are such that it is eligible for alternative worksite arrangements, such as working from home or telecommuting, on a consistent or recurring basis. Space Foundation’s current hybrid policy allows for up to two remote days per week.   
    • Regular Schedule: Usual business days are Monday through Friday, holidays excepted, and usual business hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. in the time zone in which the position is located. This position's nature and duties are such that weekends and evening events may be required to fulfill programmatic obligations.
