  • DUAL DIAGNOSIS COUNSELOR

    The Dual Diagnosis Counselor is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services, group and individual, to dually diagnosed, justice involved individuals needing mental health competency restoration supports. It is essential to have thorough knowledge of substance use and mental health disorders, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and related evidenced based assessment tools and treatment. This role requires good judgement and flexibility in responding to crisis to follow up with supportive services to participants, provide focus and directed oversight, communication, and coordination. This is a 24/7 program and may require night and weekend coverage for the safety and well-being of all clients residing in the facility. Shifts may change to meet the requirements of daily operations. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Workscollaboratively with the client to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses priority needs of the client, an agreed upon plan of action, and desired treatment outcomes. 
    • Utilizesapproved curriculum tofacilitateweekly groups and/or provides individual treatment to residents.
    • Conductsgroup and individual therapeutic interventions.
    • Evaluatesandreportsprogress and outcome of treatment services.
    • Accurately completes clinical intakes, reports, assessments, service plans, clinical notes, and discharge summaries. 
    • Administersfollow-up assessments.
    • Providescrisis intervention and de-escalation.
    • Possesses knowledge of DSV V diagnostic criteria and makes accurate diagnoses.
    • Incorporates the use ofevidence-basedpracticesandmotivationalinterviewing skills.  
    • Collaborates with other service providers and resources throughout the community to ensure clients receive comprehensive services.
    • Participates in case conferences and team meetings to ensure effective integrated service delivery.
    • Maintainsaccurateand up-to-date client records and documentation.
    • Promotes and demonstrates the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Embrave.
    • Develops andmaintainsgood working relationships with all departments, the management team, regulatory agencies, and community partners.

    SUPERVISION EXERCISED:  None. 

     

    EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE:  

    Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) in good standing with Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).  

    OR 

    Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC), Licensed Social Worker Candidate (SWC), or Addictions Counselor Candidate (ADDC) in good standing with Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
