Driver- Bedford Hills Correctional Facility

Salary: $16-$18/hr.

Job summary
The Driver will transport children and families to and from visits at the Bedford Correctional Facility and host locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure all vehicles are properly fueled and cleaned at the end of the trip
• Ensure all children are properly restrained during travel, according to state laws
• Advice Program Director of any vehicle maintenance needs as soon as possible
• Report any accident or incident immediately to the Program Director, and fill out paperwork as necessary
• File all agency and insurance paperwork, as appropriate, in a timely manner
• Provide and sign all receipts, including gas, food, or otherwise
• Attend internal staff meetings and training
• Perform additional department related duties as directed by Program Director

Specifications for Physical Requirements (as applicable):

• Ability to travel by car for long distances
• Ability to secure children in child restraints, such as a car seat or a booster seat

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid New York State Driver’s License
• Safe driving record
• Enrollment in NYS LENS program
• Experience driving children preferred
• Ability to pass a background check and safety check, including state central registry and driver’s license check
• Must be patient and compassionate with children
• Must be flexible, cooperative, and work well with others
• Must be reliant and prompt
• Must be able to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving
• Must be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally- inclusive manner
• Spanish language fluency is preferred
