Description:
The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department. Responsibilities include selling and advising needed services to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Identify automotive problems and services by listening to customers’ description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems: conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules. Implement Service Work Bench to its fullest.
- Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions.
- Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customer's payment, including deductibles.
- Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.
- Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.
- Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications.
- Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Maintain XTime Check-In utilization above 95%
- Maintain brand CSI or other measured component above regional average.
- Maintain manufacturer certification.
- Achieve a $50,000 in total sales per month or exceed individually assigned sales goal.
- Maintain personal open RO count below 30, and ensures all receivables are collectable (warranty, insurance, and service contracts)
- Knowledge in Equipment Maintenance, Lifting, Problem Solving, Reporting Research Results, Quality Focus, Productivity, Estimating, Product Knowledge, Customer Service, Problem Solving, Safety Management
- Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles.
- Experience in operational use and maintenance of wide variety of hand power tools, shop tools, and automotive and electrical test equipment.
- Understanding of basic automotive techniques related to repair and servicing of automobiles.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new and innovative automotive technologies.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting
- Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
- Work in a team-based environment and achieve common goals.
- Dealer’s Management System(s), Outlook, and MS office.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Duties are performed primarily at a desk in an office setting. Work includes frequent clerical and administrative responsibilities and interaction with managers and employees.
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
- Occasional lifting, standing, crawling, reaching, use of stairs.
- Occasional attendance at social gatherings.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
