About this position
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Provides chair-side assistance to dental providers in all phases of restorative, prosthodontic, surgical, endodontic, pediatric and periodontic treatment as provided in general dentistry. Has clinic maintenance and record keeping duties
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have completed an Accredited Dental Assisting course or 1 year of dental chairside experience.
- Dental Assistant National Board Certificate (CDA) preferred but not required
- Must be a self-starter. Able to work without direct supervision.
- Knowledge of dental instruments and medical/dental terminology.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills
- Must be able to complete Indian Health Service (his) x-ray competency evaluation.
- Must be able to provide age- specific care to patients of all age levels
- Must pay attention to detail and assume responsibility for tasks assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Seat patients in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and reviews their dental records.
- Sterilize, disinfect instruments and dental equipment.
- Provides post-operative instructions and provides oral health care education.
- Prepare materials for dental procedures per manufacturers instruction.
