Umami Riot was born from a simple idea: pair joyful hospitality with uncompromising craftsmanship. Founded by Chef Tim Cushman and sake expert Nancy Cushman, our restaurants celebrate bold flavor, precision, and a deep respect for Japanese foodways – translated through a distinctly Boston lens. At Umami Riot, we’re not here to follow the rules of hospitality, we’re here to rewrite them – with heart, craft and fearless creativity.

Hojoko is a fun, high-energy izakaya (Japanese Tavern) located in The Verb Hotel in the Fenway Neighborhood of Boston. Hojoko’s kitchen encompasses live fire cooking over traditional Japanese binchotan charcoal, an award-winning burger, all the way to a sushi program that utilizes fish from Japan’s famed Toyosu Fish Market. We are looking to add a Food Runner to our growing team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Deliver food accurately and promptly from the kitchen to guests
• Ensure each dish arrives at the table presented beautifully and exactly as intended
• Communicate clearly with both the culinary and service teams to maintain smooth service flow
• Support servers by assisting with table maintenance and guest needs
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in service stations and dining areas
• Help create a seamless guest experience through teamwork and attention to detail
• Additional duties as required. 

• Organized and efficient, able to perform well under pressure
• A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships across FOH and HOH
• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency
• Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weight as required
• Passionate about hospitality and delivering exceptional service
