 Position Overview


We are seeking a hands-on, production-driven Shop Foreman to lead daily operations of a commercial millwork and laminated aftermarket customization shop serving high-volume student housing, millworks and hospitality project


This role is fully accountable for production output, labor efficiency, quality control, and shop-floor leadership. The Foreman will lead by example, ensure deadlines are met, and maintain high craftsmanship standards while driving operational discipline.


The ideal candidate is a strong laminate fabrication specialist with proven leadership experience in commercial field refinishing environments.


Key Responsibilities


Shop Leadership & Accountability

  •  Lead and supervise shop personnel in daily production activities
  • Assign work based on project priorities, skill level, and deadlines
  • Maintain production schedule alignment with project managers
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate team members
  • Enforce safety standards and OSHA compliance
  • Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and craftsmanship
  • Lead by example as a working foreman

Laminated Aftermarket Customization and Production Oversight

  • Oversee customization of HPL, TFL/melamine, laminated furniture, cabinets, countertops, and custom commercial furniture
  • Ensure proper substrate preparation, laminate layup, trimming, edge banding, and finishing
  • Monitor Value-Added Refinishing on custom project models
  • Troubleshoot fabrication, material, or machine issues
  • Maintain compliance with architectural specifications and tolerances
  • Manage Router Templates and Precision Tooling as required
  • Achieve AWI Standards with Manual Finishes

Production & Workflow Management

  • Own daily production flow and labor efficiency as volume demands
  • Monitor productivity and adjust manpower as needed to meet deadlines
  •  Minimize rework and reduce material waste
  • Coordinate closely with project management for scheduling and delivery
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels of laminate, substrates, adhesives, hardware, and consumable

Quality Control

  • Inspect finished components before shipment
  • Ensure consistent color matching, seam quality, and finish standards
  • Maintain adherence to AWI standards where applicable
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency

Equipment & Shop Maintenance

  • Oversee preventative maintenance of table saws, manual routers, edge banding, laminate application, and other shop equipment
  • Coordinate repairs and maintain operational readiness of all machinery


Requirements:

Qualifications


Required

  • 5+ years’ experience in commercial casework or furniture manufacturing
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with high-pressure laminate systems
  • Strong understanding of laminate adhesives, substrates, fabrication techniques, and edge banding
  • Ability to read and interpret shop and cad drawings to create product requirements
  • Experience supervising production personnel in a customization shop environment
  • Extensive knowledge of woodworking machinery
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred

  • Knowledge of AWI standards
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout a production environment for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a customization shop environment


Salary Information

$25.00 - $30.00 Hourly Wage
