About this position
Work as support with engineering and quality teams on molding process improvement project. Projects include, but not limited to, efficiency improvement, equipment improvement and quality improvement.
Housing stipend available for out of area students.
SUMMARY
The Engineering Intern is responsible for engineering and quality functions, as pertains to TPi’s operations. The course of the internship will last the summer. This opportunity will provide the individual with experience in the quality department of an AS9100 foundry. Where you’ll get hands on experience with the different tasks and projects involved in TPi’s Quality Department. This position is responsible for creating clear and attainable project objectives and building project requirements in a AS9100 quality system.

INTERN RESPONSIBLITIES
- Accountable for accomplishing the stated project objectives.
- The ability to adapt to the various internal procedures and work closely with the management team to ensure key metrics of safety, quality, cost, time and customer satisfaction are realized.
- Ability to complete testing pertinent to quality. i.e. sand test, LOI, tensile testing, chemical analysis, First Article Inspections, Simulation Modeling.
- Develop and update process sheets.
- Utilize CAD to create foundry floor plans.
- Ability to coordinate plant engineering functions to include but not limited to Degas testing, new metal qualification, etc.
- Perform other related responsibilities as deemed necessary by their supervisor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology student having completed the prerequisite engineering requirements through spring semester of their sophomore year.
- Drawing proficiency in modeling program.
- Must be able to multitask and demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient in Modeling and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.

- High degree of interest in manufacturing engineering, quality or operations desired.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Physical Demands
This position requires extended periods of working in the foundry. Sitting and viewing computer monitors, as well as lifting, pushing, and pulling of material of up to 50 lbs., as necessary.
Working Conditions
The employee is exposed to an environment where hearing protection, eye safety, safety shoes and other personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. During warm & humid weather, employee is exposed to higher heat risks due to ambient temperature along with generated heat from equipment.
