Pre-Press Specialist

Position Overview:

The Pre-Press Specialist sets the foundation and structure for successful printing production. The PPS must ensure that the proper format, color, appearance, layout, and detail of images and text is accurate and set before the full size print is run in the print production process.

Essential Job Functions:

· Execute, design and layout projects accurately and effectively

· Produce graphic jobs to meet client specifications and requirements

· Perform pre-flight checks of required font, graphic, text images, and files to ensure completeness prior to delivery to production

· Ability to check and modify file image sizes

· Responsible for creating graphic proofs

· Capability to save files in various formats (tiff, pdf, eps, etc) to the correct hot folders

· Offer graphic design ideas, solutions and alternatives based on customer input

· Monitor deadlines and report conflicts to management to establish priorities before the jobs are due

· Responsible for ensuring prepared print files meet quality and project standards

· Ability to color “correct” and make similar recommendations/adjustments to print files per project requirements.

· Ability and willingness to adapt new methods and processes

Qualifications:

· 2-3 years of industry related experience

· Accomplished in Photoshop, In-Design and Illustrator programs

· Proficient in the operation of PrePress computers (PC and MAC)

· Proficient with Adobe CS5 or similar software

· Proficient in a Mac environment with most current software

· Critical thinking, problem-solving skills and basic math skills

· Strong planning and organizing skills

· Adapts to project adjustments and changes promptly and efficiently

· Able to multi-task and work efficiently to meet tight project deadlines

· Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills

· Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.

· Effective customer service and communication skills required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

· Minimum 3 years of direct work experience in a project. Demonstrated experience successfully managing various projects with a working knowledge of all the skills as they relate, preferred

· Experience with digital image editing, retouching, image manipulation

· Experience working both independently and in team-oriented, collaborative environment

Physical Demands

• Requires sitting, walking or bending for entire shift.
• Ability to frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds.

Work Conditions

· Must be able to work extended hours with little advance notice to meet project deadlines

· Must be capable of completing tasks in a fast-paced environment

· Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dust or dirt
