About the Role:
The Maintenance Technician in the pool industry plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic quality of residential and commercial swimming pools. This position involves performing routine inspections, diagnosing issues, and executing repairs on pool equipment such as pumps, filters, heaters, and automated control systems. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining water quality through chemical testing and treatment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. By proactively addressing maintenance needs and responding promptly to service requests, the technician helps extend the lifespan of pool infrastructure and enhances customer satisfaction. Ultimately, this role supports the overall operational excellence and reliability of pool facilities, contributing to a safe and enjoyable environment for users.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in pool maintenance or a related technical field.
- Basic knowledge of pool equipment operation and water chemistry.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in pool and spa maintenance (e.g., Certified Pool Operator - CPO).
- Experience with automated pool control systems and advanced water treatment technologies.
- Basic electrical and plumbing repair skills.
- Strong customer service experience.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on pool equipment including pumps, filters, heaters, and chlorinators.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues and perform timely repairs or coordinate with specialized contractors as needed.
- Test and balance pool water chemistry to maintain optimal pH, chlorine levels, and overall water quality.
- Maintain accurate service records, report findings, and communicate effectively with clients and management regarding maintenance status and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards during maintenance and repair activities.
Skills:
The required skills enable the technician to perform thorough inspections and accurately diagnose equipment malfunctions, ensuring efficient repairs and maintenance. Knowledge of water chemistry is essential for maintaining safe and balanced pool environments, which directly impacts user health and satisfaction. Preferred skills such as certification and experience with automated systems allow the technician to handle more complex equipment and optimize pool operations.
