Description:
The Shop & Facility Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the company’s maintenance shop and physical facility. This role ensures vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, proactive, and experienced in fleet maintenance, vendor coordination, and facility management.
Requirements:
Fleet & Shop Operations
- Oversee preventative maintenance and repair schedules for all company vehicles and equipment
- Supervise shop technicians and detail staff
- Ensure timely turnaround of vehicles to support operational demands
- Maintain maintenance records, service logs, and compliance documentation
- Implement and enforce shop safety standards and OSHA compliance
- Monitor parts inventory and order supplies as needed
- Coordinate with outside vendors and repair partners when necessary
Facility Management
- Maintain building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and security
- Ensure cleanliness and professional presentation of shop, office, and yard areas
- Manage waste disposal, environmental compliance, and hazardous materials handling
- Oversee facility repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance programs
- Coordinate inspections and maintain regulatory compliance
Budget & Vendor Management
- Develop and manage shop and facility budgets
- Negotiate contracts with service providers and suppliers
- Track expenses and implement cost-control measures
- Evaluate vendor performance and service quality
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety meetings
- Ensure compliance with DOT, local, state, and federal regulations
- Maintain MSDS records and safety documentation
- Lead incident reporting and corrective action procedures
Leadership & Communication
- Train and mentor shop personnel
- Coordinate with operations, dispatch, and management teams
- Provide regular reports on vehicle status, facility condition, and maintenance KPIs
- Promote a culture of accountability, cleanliness, and operational excellence
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in fleet management, automotive service management, or facility operations
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and preventative maintenance programs
- Experience supervising staff in a shop or industrial environment
- Working knowledge of OSHA and safety regulations
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with maintenance tracking software and Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop environment
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE Certification
- Experience managing luxury or commercial fleet vehicles
- Facilities management certification
- Budget management experience
