Summary:

The Claims Subrogation Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the company's subrogation efforts by investigating, evaluating, and settling both first- and third-party subrogation claims to achieve optimal recovery percentages while controlling costs. This position is responsible for managing an active case load, negotiating settlements within defined authority limits, and overseeing a range of auto and homeowners claims.

This role provides comprehensive support to the claims department and serves as an excellent entry point for individuals seeking to begin a career in claims, with opportunities to progressively more challenging roles. A more experienced applicant will find opportunities to file, respond to, and hear inter-company arbitrations. An experienced applicant will also collaborate with inside and outside counsel to pursue subrogation through legal means.


Key Responsibilities:

· Identify, evaluate, and interpret subrogation potential, utilizing professional knowledge and expertise

· Manage subrogation and arbitration for personal auto property damage claims, including coverage verification, liability assessment, demand preparation, negotiation, and recovery activities

· Collaborate with customers and carriers to resolve multi-party property damage claims effectively

· Coordinate with frontline claims staff and leadership to ensure seamless handoffs, timely responses, and minimization of arbitration or litigation risks while adhering to internal workflows

· Pursue recovery from tort carriers, arbitrate when necessary, and maintain thorough documentation with detailed file notes and supporting evidence

· Track key performance indicators (cycle time, recovery rate, reserve accuracy) and proactively communicate status updates, risks, and next steps to stakeholders

· Initiate outbound and respond to inbound communications with insureds, vendors, counsel, and other insurance carriers

· Print, prepare, and mail official correspondence to pursue recovery

· File new claim reports received via inbound demands for claims that have not been reported

· Assist the total loss department with administrative paperwork and telephone communications

· Contribute to special projects as required

· Other tasks as assigned


Qualifications:

· High school diploma required

· Experience working in dynamic, fast-paced environments

· Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills

· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities

· Self-motivated, capable of working independently and exercising sound judgment

· Familiarity with office environments

· Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems

· Salary Range: $55,000 to $65,000


Preferred:

· Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)

· Bachelor’s or advanced degree

· Call center/customer service, claims, or collection recovery experience


Work Environment:

· In-office position

· Monday through Friday schedule
