Attendant Care Team Lead – Youth Emergency Shelter Kansas City, KS | $24/hour + Shift Differential

Shifts Available:

  • Thursday – Monday | 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Friday – Tuesday | 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

Are you an experienced youth care or behavioral health professional ready to step into a leadership role? Join our Emergency Shelter team where you'll mentor staff, support at-risk youth, and help create a safe, stable environment for young people in crisis.

 

What You'll Do


Working with Youth:

  • Provide direct, trauma-informed care to youth in an emergency shelter setting
  • Support emotional regulation, daily living skills, and social skill development
  • Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation and strengths-based interventions
  • Conduct regular safety checks (every 15 minutes) and document observations accurately
  • Assist youth with meal prep, cleaning, and daily routines
  • Provide community-based support and transportation as needed

Leading Your Team:

  • Serve as the first point of contact and mentor for Attendant Care staff
  • Coach and model best practices in trauma-informed, culturally responsive care
  • Assist with shift coverage planning and communicate staffing needs to supervisors
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and support staff performance with empathy and accountability
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required trainings


Requirements:

 

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in youth care, behavioral health, direct support, or emergency shelter services
  • Strong de-escalation, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care skills
  • Natural leader with the ability to coach and motivate others
  • Calm, dependable, and emotionally resilient in high-stress situations
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Flexible and available for evening and weekend shifts

Requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and comprehensive vehicle insurance
  • Must pass background check, Kansas Child Abuse/Neglect Registry check, and reference verification
  • Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
