Position purpose
The Referral Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating the referral process, ensuring that patients receive timely access to specialty care and services. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as strong commitment to patient satisfaction
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

- Receive and review referral requests from primary care physicians and other healthcare providers via fax and referral software management systems (ie: Leading Reach)
- Verify insurance and eligibility information for referred patients.
- Ensure that all referral documentation is complete and accurate.
- Coordinate and schedule appointments for referred patients with our specialist providers.
- Communicate appointment details and instructions to patients, including any necessary preparations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for referred patients, addressing their inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Educate patients on the referral process and assist with any required paperwork.
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic records of referrals, authorizations, and patient interactions.
- Maintain communication with referring providers regarding status of referrals
- Prepare and submit necessary reports to clinic management.
- Ensure that all referral processes adhere to clinic policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Continuously assess and improve referral coordination procedures for maximum efficiency and patient satisfaction.

Education: High School diploma or GED.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of pre-certification experience required.
Requirements for Level I Status:
Additional Qualifications: Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes.
