The Tax & Audit Manager will provide technical leadership, manage client relationships, and oversee both tax and audit engagements for a diverse portfolio. This role requires a strong self-starter who takes initiative and brings deep technical expertise in both disciplines. As a key leader in the firm, this person will help drive operational excellence and support continued firm growth with a clear pathway to future partnership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review complex tax engagements (individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary).
     
  • Lead, supervise, and review audit and assurance engagements across multiple industries.
     
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering exceptional service and strategic insight.
     
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff and senior accountants.
     
  • Oversee workflow, engagement planning, budgeting, and quality control.
     
  • Stay current on industry standards, regulations, and emerging issues in tax and audit.
     
  • Contribute to internal process improvements and firmwide initiatives.
     
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities aligned with long-term partnership potential.

Requirements


  • Active CPA license required.
     
  • 5–7+ years of recent public accounting experience across both tax and audit.
     
  • Proven experience managing and reviewing both tax and audit engagements.
     
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and federal/state tax regulations.
     
  • Excellent communication, client management, and leadership skills.
     
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
     
  • Must reside in Augusta, GA or within reasonable commuting distance.
