Develop employment-based curriculum. Provide a fostering learning environment that enriches the lives of those we serve. Lead and inspire staff & individuals within the programs. Act as an agency ambassador in all capacities.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide training, instruction and support for workers & Support Staff in the transitional, EEO and EES programs.
  • Attend worker, program, and agency required trainings. 
  • Ensure that community partner efforts for the individuals in the transitional program have follow through, ensure proper documentation of inquiries.
  • Have an understanding of billable hours/ contract monies for workers in the program 
  • Get initial training and continue to receive updates in all areas of Transitional services, EEO and the Employment First Initiative for the State of CT
  • Know all community sites and be able to fill in if needed
  • Provide a monthly written report (i.e. Monthly summary sheet) including barriers, accomplishments and attendance on      activities to the Employment Manager 
  • Be an active member of the safety committee
  • Guide individuals in learning to complete job tasks assigned by the transitional or job site.
  • Familiarize yourself with individuals’ goals and community site expectations
  • Develop curriculum that emphasizes employment skills as well as soft skills & advocacy.      
  • Assist individuals to discover and overcome their personal barriers and set goals      for growth
  • Assist  individuals with disabilities in developing social and life skills
  • Maintain appropriate communications with parents/guardians, residential staff, DDS Case Managers, OWC Directors/other staff, and business contacts as asked by your manager.
  •  Be active on some of OWC’s committees to assist with moving the agencies priorities forward.
  • Assist in providing a positive program environment to staff & participant
  • Be a team player 
  • Learn & follow all policy & procedures of the agency
  • Be or have the ability to become med certified 
  • Learn and follow all safety & emergency procedures for the agency
  • Be involved in OWC fundraisers and events
  • Perform other duties as assigned, or as they arise. 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:

  • Must be organized & tidy
  • Experience in working with people with disabilities is a plus
  • Ability to adhere to regulations and standards
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving ability
  • Respect for diversity
  • Ability to inspire and motivate
  • 3 years’ experience in a Human Service, mentoring or teaching setting
  • Must be reliable, dependable, and flexible with your hours
  • Must possess proven experience and success
  • CPR/First Aid, PMT, Med Cert a plus
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and have 5 years’ experience with clean driving record
  • Be willing to use your own vehicle on company time including transporting individuals to community sites.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team as well as be independent
  • Familiarity with video production or ability to learn.
  • Ability to plan and schedule monthly, weekly, and daily program activities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to carry a minimum of 40 pounds
