GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Accounting Manager is a hand-on accounting leader responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the organization’s daily accounting operations. This role serves as the primary owner of the monthly close, and supports other essential finance functions such as internal controls and audit readiness.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain accurate general ledger functions across church and school entities
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close process
  • Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
  • Perform and review bank, balance sheet, and key account reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and internal policies
  • Support preparation of the annual financial audit and related schedules
  • Coordinate with external auditors and respond to audit requests
  • Maintain organized documentation to support transparency and compliance
  • Oversee fixed assets, debt schedules, and capital project accounting
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • BS/BA degree in accounting or finance 
  • 5 - 7+ Years’ Experience in Accounting
  • MS Office Proficiency – Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Nonprofit, church, or school accounting experience
  • Experience supervising accounting staff
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct
