Systems Engineering Manager  


This position is located On-site in our Bayour La Batre, AL office

 

 

The Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for managing engineering configuration control, change processes, and requirements management. The role serves as a critical liaison between internal Birdon departments, government agencies, and regulatory bodies ensuring configuration and compliance of design products to contract and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, ship design and construction, and cross-functional team leadership. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise the document control team to ensure configuration control of all released engineering documents (drawings, reports, analysis, test procedures, test reports, procurement specifications, presentations, and vendor furnished information)
  • Lead engineering teams, including electrical, structural, outfitting, and mechanical engineers, in reviewing and scoping change orders
  • Establish systems for requirements management to aid design leads and ensure released engineering products are in accordance with contractual requirements, specifications, and company standards
  • Collaborate with other Birdon departments (Programs, Production, Planning, Supply Chain and Quality) to ensure engineering product structure and release meet internal customer needs to execute ship construction 
  • Serve as a liaison between Government Programs, USCG, NAVSEA, SSGC, ABS, and Birdon America, Inc. Program Engineering to ensure program requirements and objectives are met
  • Create internal and customer presentations and briefs as needed
