Operations Supervisor

Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily waste collection operations across residential, commercial, and industrial lines of business. This role provides hands-on leadership to frontline supervisors, dispatchers, drivers, and helpers, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations while maintaining high service standards. The ideal candidate brings strong industry experience, a safety-first mindset, and a proven ability to lead and develop operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily residential, commercial, and roll-off operations
• Oversee routing, dispatch, fleet utilization, and labor planning to maximize efficiency
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, safety, overtime, and service reliability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and corrective action for frontline staff
• Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and environmental regulations
• Lead safety meetings, audits, ride-alongs, and incident investigations
• Serve as the primary escalation point for customer and municipal concerns
• Leverage routing, dispatch, and telematics systems to improve operational performance

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bilingual (highly preferred)
• Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in a related field
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field (preferred)
• Class A or B CDL (preferred)
• Proven experience managing teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong safety knowledge with a demonstrated track record of managing safety programs and initiatives
