Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Product Owner (TPO) to lead full lifecycle Shopify Retail POS implementation projects. This role is both technical and strategic, requiring deep knowledge of Shopify configuration, data migration, and integrations—alongside project management and stakeholder leadership skills.
The TPO is the technical decision-maker responsible for directing implementation strategy, validating solutions, and owning successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery of Shopify POS implementation projects, from planning through post-launch.
- Lead cross-functional teams of developers, data specialists, and vendor partners.
- Manage project scope, budget, risks, and timelines, reporting progress to leadership and stakeholders.
- Oversee Shopify POS configuration, ensuring products, customers, orders, tax, payment, and multi-location setups align with requirements.
- Define and lead data migration strategy, including mapping and QA.
- Direct integrations with ERP, CRM, inventory, and payment platforms, collaborating with internal developers and external vendors.
- Review and approve technical designs, test plans, and deployment strategies with a Systems Architect
- Facilitate discovery sessions with clients to validate requirements and align workflows.
- Communicate project updates and risks to executives and retail leadership.
- Define testing objectives for configuration, data, and integrations.
- Ensure all project documentation, SOPs, and handover materials are complete.
- Oversee training plans to ensure successful adoption by store teams and admins.
- Collaborate closely with developers and product teams to translate customer requirements into technical specifications, feature requests, and implementation plans, ensuring custom solutions are delivered on time and meet merchant needs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience, with at least 2+ years in retail technology or SaaS implementation.
- Strong knowledge of Shopify POS, including configuration, workflows, and APIs.
- Hands-on experience with data migration and integrations.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Notion, Linear, and collaboration tools like Slack and G Suite.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and vendor negotiation skills.
- Ability to translate between business requirements and technical execution.
Preferred
- Experience in using visual workflow mapping and design tools like Figma, Visio, Lucidchart.
- PMP, Agile, or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience with ERP, CRM, and inventory management tools and integrations.
- Background in multi-location retail or service-based industries.
- Familiarity with API queries and data mapping.
- Proficiency in using Python scripts to automate and expedite data transformation tasks
- Ability to leverage AI tools like Claude, Notion, and Gemini to query data, draft workflows, and develop technical solutions.

The pay range for this role is:
80,000 - 130,000 CAD per year(Vancouver)
