About this position

Objective: 

The Maintenance Hand is responsible for supporting the daily operation of Old House Hotel & Ohspa by ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back of house spaces are maintained in a clean, safe, and well-functioning condition. Working in alignment with the Hotel’s service culture, operational standards, and safety practices, this role helps maintain the overall quality, comfort, and appearance of the property.

With a strong focus on preventative maintenance, teamwork, and attention to detail, the Maintenance Hand completes general repairs, supports ongoing maintenance projects, and responds to maintenance concerns in a timely manner. Through a professional and proactive approach, this position supports guest satisfaction and provides a safe working environment for all associates.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, machinery, vehicles, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure operating equipment is in good working order and report concerns as needed.
  • Maintain work areas, equipment, and tools in a clean and safe condition.
  • Complete short-term and long-term projects within required timelines.
  • Support outdoor property maintenance, including landscaping and guest areas during summer months.
  • Assist with winter maintenance by ensuring sidewalks, entrances, exits, and walkways are clear of snow and ice.
  • Ensure guest areas are maintained in a safe and presentable manner.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in guest rooms and public areas in a timely manner.
  • Support Housekeeping by addressing room maintenance issues quickly to reduce out-of-order inventory.
  • Communicate clearly with leaders and team members to help balance priorities and meet daily operational needs.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude and contribute to a supportive team environment.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


 Preferred Education & Qualifications: 

  • Minimum one (1) year of maintenance experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License.
  • Painting experience (interior and exterior) is an asset.
  • Pool Operator Certification is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to complete physical tasks, including heavy lifting, walking long distances, and climbing stairs.

7am to 3:30pm and
10:30am to 7:00pm
