Now Hiring: Full-Time Registered Nurse – Day Shift for the Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House
Good Samaritan Hospice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Full-Time RN to join our Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House care team. At Good Samaritan Hospice, we affirm life every day by providing compassionate care to patients and families facing serious illness. Our services include care in homes, facilities, and at the Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House, a peaceful, homelike setting offering 16 private suites designed for comfort, rest, and round-the-clock hospice care. Each suite provides space for loved ones, along with inviting family areas, a courtyard, and a meditation chapel.
Position Details:
- Schedule: 3X12s 7am - 7pm
- Employment Type: Full-time, hourly
What You’ll Do
- Provide skilled nursing care for hospice patients in our inpatient unit, focusing on comfort, dignity, and symptom management.
- Perform patient assessments and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary hospice team.
- Manage pain and symptoms, administer medications and treatments, and monitor patient condition.
- Educate and support patients and families through the end-of-life care journey.
- Accurately document care and updates in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in team meetings, care coordination, and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications:
- Active, unencumbered RN license in Virginia.
- 3+ years of nursing experience (hospice, community health, or medical/surgical preferred).
- Strong communication, organization, and EMR documentation skills.
- Commitment to the hospice philosophy and patient-centered care.
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- CPR/BLS certification required.
