About this position
About Mytra:
We're creating an entirely new way to solve the most ubiquitous problem in industry - moving and storing material. We're applying robotics and distributed software to create a new class of product for this $1T market. We're focused on the supply chain industry first. The industry is in a massive bind with the continued growth of e-commerce, sharp rise in costs, and supply chain disruptions. What has been a “sleepy” industry for decades is now at the epicenter of sustaining the global economy.
We are seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to define the electrical architecture strategy across our autonomous platforms. You bring deep, multi-domain hardware expertise, strong technical judgment, and the ability to make high-stakes design decisions under uncertainty.
You'll own critical technology decisions that span multiple products and generations — from power and actuation to sensing, compute, and safety systems. You'll lead flagship development efforts with significant business impact, build key supplier and technology partnerships, and evaluate emerging technologies to drive capability differentiation. You'll operate with near-complete autonomy, make strategic technical decisions that shape our 2–4 year roadmap, and help build the engineering culture and team around you.
What you'll do:
- Define electrical architecture strategy across the product portfolio; own critical technology decisions affecting multiple products and generations
- Architect and own electrical systems from concept through production — spanning power, motor control, sensing, communication, and mixed-signal electronics
- Drive cross-functional integration by defining clear electrical requirements and interfaces, aligning constraints, and managing technical tradeoffs across teams. Define electrical requirements and interfaces to drive integration with cross-functional partners, align constraints, and manage technical tradeoffs.
- Lead flagship product development efforts, making system-level tradeoffs across performance, reliability, safety, cost, and timeline
- Establish platform architecture strategies and reusable modules organization-wide
- Build and iterate on PCBs: schematic capture, layout, design reviews, bring-up, validation, and manufacturing release
- Design for real-world deployment: signal integrity, power delivery, EMI/EMC, ESD, thermal management, vibration, environmental hardening, manufacturability, and serviceability
- Design with reliability in mind: redundancy architectures, fault detection, graceful degradation, and endurance maximization
- Define or co-develop board and system-level operation with the firmware team
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies (solid-state LiDAR, advanced sensors, batteries, edge AI accelerators, next-gen networking) for capability differentiation
- Develop key supplier relationships and technology partnerships for motors, sensors, batteries, and compute platforms
- Resolve conflicts between competing requirements across programs
- Support manufacturing bring-up and work directly with contract manufacturers
- Mentor Senior Engineers and develop their technical leadership; recruit and evaluate engineering talent
- Shape team technical culture, lead critical cross-functional initiatives, and build technical community across the organization
Ideal Candidates:
- BS + 8 years of hands-on hardware experience with demonstrated system ownership and technical leadership (MS + 6 years, PhD + 3 years)
- Recognized expert across the electrical engineering domain with deep specialization in critical areas (actuation/mobility, sensors, power/energy management, wireless systems, or safety architectures)
- Expert-level knowledge of emerging technologies and their application potential
- Comprehensive understanding of platform strategy, applications, and technology roadmap
- Deep knowledge of safety-critical system design, environmental hardening, and field reliability
- Experience taking hardware from prototype to production at scale
- Comfortable making critical decisions under significant uncertainty
- Clear communicator who can explain tradeoffs and decisions without ego
- Energized by building teams and developing future technical leaders
- PCB design, schematic capture, and layout (Altium preferred)
- Hands-on board bring-up, debugging, and validation
- ARM processors and microcontrollers
- EMI mitigation, signal integrity, and power system design
- Interfaces such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, LVDS, and PCIe
- Firmware bring-up and hardware/firmware integration
- Cost optimization, design for manufacturability, and endurance maximization
Nice to Have:
- Robotics, mobile platforms, or autonomous systems experience
- Sensor integration (cameras, LiDAR, IMU)
- Embedded firmware experience (C/C++, bare-metal or RTOS)
- High-reliability or functional safety design experience (ISO 26262, IEC 61508)
- You've shipped hardware that had to survive outside the lab
A Final Note:
If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply — even if you don't check every box. At Mytra, we build bots, but we hire humans. We value thoughtful challengers who communicate with clarity and respect, and we're lifelong learners committed to getting better every day. We move fast, learn faster, and show up for each other under pressure. The best outcomes come from diverse perspectives working together to build something meaningful and built to last.
Benefits Include:
