Overview
This role will support the FirstHealth ambulatory pharmacy network. We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and dynamic pharmacist to support our system's two retail locations. The pharmacist will have great communication, organization, and team-building skills with a thorough understanding of retail operations and clinical skills.
Responsibilities
- Receives and interprets prescriptions while reviewing the patient's medication profile/history. Clarifies incomplete, inaccurate, or contraindicated prescriptions with the prescriber, nurse, or other health professional, as appropriate. Identifies and intervenes on problems related to the medication needs of the patient.
- Prepares and dispenses all drugs, including refills, for patient use as ordered and as appropriate. Assesses drug therapy for appropriateness prior to medications being dispensed.
- Utilizes and analyzes patient data to provide optimal drug therapy recommendations. Assesses the patient's medication therapy regimen and makes appropriate clinical interventions with the provider.
- Direct workflow, supervise pharmacy personnel and ensure completion of all necessary tasks for optimal functioning of the pharmacy.
- Completes required documentation such as notations in the medical record, controlled substances documentation, cash register reconciliation, competency, etc. as required.
- Counsels patients and appropriate family members regarding pharmaceutical care issues as requested or required.
- Complete assigned administrative tasks and projects in a timely manner.
- Adheres to federal, state, local, and institutional policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.
- Administer immunizations to patients when needed.
- Identifies and participates in process improvement opportunities.
- Precepts students, residents and participates in training new pharmacy staff as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment.
Preferred
- Previous retail pharmacy experience
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record and Rx30 pharmacy system
- Certified immunizer
