POSITION OVERVIEW
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for supporting the Provider and the patients by scheduling surgeries, tests and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule surgeries, tests, and other procedures as well as tracking of test results.
- Prepare weekly schedule and assist Provider in daily flow.
- Work with Precertification Specialist, to ensure precertification’s are done in timely manner.
- Enroll patients in computer system as needed or appropriate in a timely manner.
- Support patients in person and over the phone in a professional and courteous manner.
- Communicate physician schedule changes and other necessary updates to Operations Manager and others appropriately.
- Support Provider with phone calls, mail and other correspondence.
- Complete and mail FMLA paperwork for patients.
- Avoid and/or resolve errors which may lead to undo write-offs or insurance rejections.
- Recognize and appropriately report problems or negative patterns.
- Provide backup scheduling coverage and other office responsibilities as a member of the Surgery Scheduling Team.
- Schedule doctor’s meetings at the various hospitals.
- Handle other duties and special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Minimum 2-years’ experience in healthcare, medical office or hospital setting (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Previous experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software required.
- Attention to detail, timeliness and strong organization skills required.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Ability to communicate and articulate complex information simply.
Salary Information
$18.00 - $21.00
