About this position

Job Specific Role Expectations

• Maintain dies and tooling to print specification as required.

• Sharpen and shim dies to die specifications

• Heat treat all cutting tools to print specification

• Perform machining duties as specified. Train/Mentor other associates in machining practices as required.

• Perform preventative maintenance on dies to schedule (TRT)

• Properly lace or start a strip in accordance with standard procedure.

• Perform first and last piece evaluations in accordance with SOPs.

• Read strips accurately and create TRT when applicable.

• Repair and maintain dies, components and fixtures using tool & die techniques and tools as required to support production

• Evaluate and support press set-ups [inserting/installing die sets, accessories, safety equipment, welding fixtures, tapping

• fixtures, etc.]

• Design, build and/or refurbish dies and gages as required.

• Analyze broken or ineffective dies, determine root cause and develop and implement corrective action.

• Test, try out and develop new dies or upgrades as required.

• Build tool & die components, jigs, fixtures and gages to print specification.

• Evaluate tools for potential upgrades to reduce maintenance costs and improve production efficiency.

• Produce parts on a lathe within .001" tolerance

• Produce parts on a milling machine within .001" tolerance

• Produce parts on a surface grinder within .0002" tolerance

• Produce parts on a cylindrical grinder within .0002" tolerance

• Produce parts on a drill presses within .001" tolerance

• Produce parts on a power saw within .03" tolerance

• Hardness testers

• Heat treat processes

• Measuring devises (micrometer, calipers, dial indicators, combination square, comparitor, gage blocks, etc.)

Experience and Education Required:

• Previous Toolmaker Experience

• High school diploma or GED

Working Conditions: Walking, bending, standing, carrying product, climbing, reaching overhead and heavy lifting required; exposure to all types of weather conditions (including seasonal temperature changes).
