About this position

The ESL instructor will teach English as a Second Language lessons to individuals who are non-native speakers. The curriculum will encompass reading comprehension, writing, listening, and speaking skills. By combining these elements, the ESL program aims to create a supportive and engaging environment where students can build their confidence and proficiency in English.


Education & Experience Requirements

Education required: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, or related field

Preferred Experience: Instruction of ESL students, adult, and/or non-traditional learners


Essential Functions & Position Duties

  • Develop lesson plans designed to enhance students' English language proficiency.
  • Incorporate technology to design engaging interactive activities.
  • Employ a diverse range of effective instructional strategies in a multi-level setting.
  • Foster creativity to boost students’ learning and retention.
  • Evaluate student progress and offer constructive feedback.
  • Maintain precise records of student attendance.


Non-essential functions of the position

Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.


Location/Time: TENTATIVELY Tuesday and Thursday – 2 hours per day in Marion

Salary: $21.00 per contact hour
